Roulette rules
On this page will give you a quick introduction to roulette rules.
The game of roulette is of French origin. The European roulette wheel has
37 numbers, including the numbers 1 to 36 and a 0 ('zero'). America adopted
the the game of roulette, but changed the rules slightly in favor of the
house. This is due to the fact that the typical American roulette wheel
has 38 numbers, including the numbers 1 to 36, a 0 ('zero') and a 00 ('double
zero'). The 'double zero' increases the house edge from 2.63% to 5.26%.
It should be noted that some American casinos are offering the European
variant of roulette.
Tip: The best Roulette bets (with the lowest house edge) are offered
by Cryptologic and Boss
Media, because of the option to surrender.
Roulette rules detailed
The roulette table consists of a roulette wheel and a betting table. After
all bets are placed on the betting table, the dealer spins the roulette wheel
in one direction and the ball in the opposite direction. Winning bets are
determined by the numbered slot in which the ball drops. Losing bets are collected
and winning bets are paid. After all payoffs have been made, the dealer will
announce "Place your bets." You may then place bets on the next spin until
the dealer announces "No more bets."
Possible roulette bets
In roulette it is possible to place 11 types of bets. These types of bets
are illustrated and explained in the roulette wheel diagram and table below,
assuming an American roulette wheel. The letters in the blue circles correspond
to the letters used in the Example column. Bets A to F are called inside bets.
Bets G to K are called outside bets.
